William Marsh, San Rafael Fire Department: Died in the Line of Duty 1/26/1980

Died in the Line of Duty: 1/26/1980

FIREFIGHTER WILLIAM MARSH OF SAN RAFAEL FD SUFFERED AN ANEURYSM WHILE ON DUTY AND PASSED AWAY IN THE HOSPITAL SHORTLY AFTERWARDS.  

The 13th Annual California Firefighters Memorial Ceremony was held Saturday, October 17 at the California Firefighters Memorial in Capital Park, on the grounds of the California State Capitol in Sacramento.

This year, San Rafael Fire Engineer - William Marsh  wasbe added to the wall.  Engineer Marsh served the SRFD from September 1972 – January 1980 and passed away from an aneurysm at the young age of 33 while sleeping at the fire house.  Bill was an outstanding Firefighter and Engineer, one of the finest in the department.  He was competent and compassionate, a true public servant.   

Local 1775 Treasurer and San Rafael Captain Jason Hatfield, who knows Bill’s daughter, Laura Fitzpatrick, worked to complete the Memorial Wall Application with the California Fire Foundation.  Laura attended Santa Rosa Junior College for the past few years and this semester is starting a Bachelor’s program at San Francisco State University.
