Marin County, Novato, San Rafael and Southern Marin members and retirees.  It is extremely important that we elect a knowledgeable and friendly member to the MCERA retirement board as the Safety representative.  Please take a minute to vote using the ballot that was mailed to you!  Local 1775 STRONLY ENCOURAGES all of our MCERA memebrs to vote for Chris Cooper for Safety Representative on the MCERA Retirement Board.

Candidate Statement - MCERA Board of Trustees Seventh Safety Member

Chris Cooper, San Rafael Fire Department, Fire Captain/Paramedic

I am a Fire Captain with the San Rafael Fire Department and have proudly served as Trustee on the MCERA Board representing Safety Members since 2012.  Prior to my fire service career, I served in the U.S. Army as Mandarin Chinese Interrogator, graduated from U.C. Berkeley, worked for a large corporation and owned a small business.  I also volunteered on the Marin County Sheriff’s SAR Team as Search Manager for ten years and on the Marin County USAR Water Rescue Team.

Serving on the Board of Retirement has been a very rewarding experience.  I have learned more than I ever thought I would about fund management, investment policy and disability retirements.  As a result, I have made an impact on important decisions affecting our retirement benefits.  I have also fought strongly for disability retirement benefits earned by members for work-related injuries and due families for line of duty deaths.  Please vote for me so I can continue to serve you on the MCERA Board.
