As coronavirus (COVID-19) cases and exposures continue to grow, we want to make sure you have the latest guidance, best practices and information to protect your health and safety and the public's safety as you remain on the frontlines of this pandemic.
The information below is also available on our coronavirus resource online. This site is constantly updated so check back frequently.
- Use our COVID-19 post-exposure/quarantine symptom monitoring tracker to monitor for signs and symptoms daily.
- Share our video on self screening and post our Self Screening Guidelines in every fire station.
- Review the IAFF Return to Work guidelines.
- Share our message addressing the shortage of PPE on Fox News.
- Listen to our IAFF COVID-19 Podcast.
- Download the National Fire Operations Reporting System (NFORS) Exposure mobile app to help in collecting national exposure data for all fire fighters and paramedics. Watch the demo video on how to enter data.
- Ensure your department updates its dispatch call types in the CAD to include contagious emergency (possible COVID-19). This change will allow departments to collect these data elements for multiple uses.
- Read more about the president's nationwide emergency declaration, which frees up more than $40 billion in emergency federal funds to combat COVID-19 and allows state and local governments to be reimbursed up to 75 percent for emergency protective measures under the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Public Assistance Program. Local leaders should communicate fire department needs to their local elected officials and stress that these needs must be included in their requests for reimbursement under the FEMA Public Assistance Program.
